Raising Awareness

It’s been quite some time since our last blog post, but that’s because so much has happened since then! We felt really honored to have been part of so many events so far this year, from the Natural Awakenings & Stonehenge’s Earth Day Expo to the Christopher and Susan Phillips Foundation Phillips 5k Trail Walk/Run! We feel that we’ve accomplished a lot in such little time. But there’s always room for more!

One of our core values is sustainability, so when we were asked to be part of this year’s Earth Day Expo, we couldn’t have been more thrilled! It was a pleasure to have demoed at Earth Day Expo 2012 because it reinforced our beliefs in creating a company that is committed to keeping our planet green, in all sense of the word. It was great to have met so many other entrepreneurs who have launched businesses or are part of companies that are healthier and greener for our planet.

We developed Heart Juice to not only provide a great tasting beverage, but to also raise heart disease awareness. Being able to share our stories where so many people can gather is ideal for carrying out our social mission of promoting a heart healthier lifestyle. One way towards healthier living is to stay active so we jumped on the opportunity to participate in the 9th Annual Tour de Elizabeth, a 15 mile recreational bicycle ride through my hometown of Elizabeth, NJ! This was the second year Team Heart Juice participated in the tour and it was nice to see that our team grew from 4 to 10 riders! Not only did we help spread awareness for our brand, but we got in some great exercise, and more importantly, exposed people to the importance of taking care of their hearts!

The Stache Haus launch party wasn’t a typical venue for us but we don’t think we’re any ordinary beverage. We were very excited to sample Heart Juice while checking out some really cool clothes. We got a chance to watch some great performances by artists from Maine to Maryland and met an awesome all-girl alternative rock band, Ivy Rose! We wish them luck on America’s Got Talent!

In June we were invited by Atlantic Health’s Overlook Hospital to sample Heart Juice at the American Heart Association Greater Union Heart Walk at Nomahegan Park in Cranford, NJ. We were asked to be part of their Nutritional Health tent because they believed in our mission of spreading heart disease awareness.

Lastly, we were sponsors of the inaugural Christopher and Susan Phillips Foundation 5K Trail Walk/Run at the Watchung Reservation in Mountainside, NJ. The race is dedicated to raising funds for the Christopher and Susan Phillips Foundation, which was started to honor the lives of Chris and his mother Sue Phillips. It was a great first race and we’re already looking forward to next year’s run!

In the early 80’s, when Steve Jobs was recruiting John Sculley, then President of PepsiCo, to join him in Apple, Steve asked him, “Do you want to sell sugar water for the rest of your life, or do you want to come with me and change the world?” Well, We asked ourselves this same question every day and every day we answer that we’re here to change the world. We love participating in these events because it gives us the stage to spread our message of awareness, even if it is one person at a time. We may not be able to change the world in a day, but in a day, you can start to.
